Charles Edacheril, Acting City Controller

Charles Edacheril was appointed Acting City Controller by Mayor James F. Kenney on February 6, 2023. As Acting City Controller, Charles will manage all day-to-day operations of the office and continue its work to meet and exceed its core functions. He will serve on the Board of Pensions, Gas Commission and Sinking Fund Commission.

With more than 17 years of auditing experience, he is a career auditor with the Philadelphia Office of the City Controller. Most recently, as Interim Deputy Controller for Audit, Charles oversaw the Audit unit’s staff, who are responsible for completing major reports as required by the Home Rule Charter, including the Single Audit and the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) audit for both the City of Philadelphia and the School District of Philadelphia, departmental audits, and performance audits.

Charles is a licensed Certified Public Accountant. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Association of Local Government Auditors.

Charles graduated from Temple University with a Bachelor of Business Administration, Accounting degree. Charles lives in Fox Chase with his family.
